Comment: All the bikes sitting along side the castle in the morning light.
view of town * A view of the town Niederalfingen, sitting below the castle. In the distance is Huettlingen, about a kilometer away. * 432 x 290 * (61KB)

castle back pano * The rear view of the castle, from the ground level where you can see as an attacker you would have a very difficult time trying to enter the fortress. * 372 x 432 * (51KB)

tower and wall * The front tower and wall of the Marienburg Niederfingen. The tall wall behind the tower was probably one end of the chapel. * 323 x 432 * (63KB)

firepit from above * Helmut is just getting the fire started, using numerous wood pallets. Some people are sitting around, obviuosly not yet needing the warmth of the flames. * 432 x 323 * (59KB)

sunset from castle * The sunset viewed from the Marienburg Niederfingen, with the crecent moon rising. * 684 x 235 * (34KB)

bikes morning
bikes tower evening * The bikes at the Left Lane club meeting alongside the castle wall and tower. * 320 x 406 * (49KB)

caped crusaders * Part of the group as they prepare to enter the mine with their hats and capes. Lots of Batman jokes going around. * 432 x 323 * (65KB)

train going into mine * Jim, Wolf, Elke and others on the train as it enters the mine. And, no, Jim is not asleep yet! * 432 x 323 * (52KB)

tunnel with tracks * One of the many tunnels we wandered down while on the tour of this iron mine. In the late 1800s this mine was the major industry of the area. * 314 x 432 * (42KB)

ceiling of tunnel * The iron bars supporting the ceiling of the tunnel. They are dripping with the lime seeping through the tunnels, creating a calcite coating which preserves them without rusting. So no worry that the ceiling will collapse on our heads! * 432 x 323 * (60KB)
