SomeThoughts
About Globalization

Love it or hate it globalization is here - and from what we have seen it is not just a fad but something much larger than that. It is something that has replaced the Cold War as the dominant international system. We recognize that this is an emotional topic for many people and that there is a tremendous amount of animosity felt by people who have been passed by, left behind or “run over” by this new system.

Having said that, we highly recommend Mr. Friedman’s book. Who knows, you might learn something about globalization. Goodness knows we have certainly learned a lot by reading it. By way of comparison we would describe The Lexus and the Olive Tree as being to globalization what Aynn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged is to objectivism. We are not aware of another book on the market on the subject - if you know of any please let us know.

Please accept that this is a work in progress and it will probably take us many years to gain an understanding of what globalization is, and what it is not. We started this subsection on the 40th anniversary of the building of the Berlin Wall in August , 2001. Considering that the fall of the Wall is what gave impetus to globalization this seems somewhat appropriate. We will update the existing pages and add others as necessary as we move along in our travels.

We have spent some time coalescing our thoughts about globalization - the things we have been able to come up with are The Things We Do Not Understand About Globalization, The Things We Understand About Globalization and How Globalization Has Affected Us.
