Travelogue 2005

Our plan for this year is to get our new Horst Ullrich sidecar on the road. We will do this during the month of May in Idstein, Germany at the Hotel Zum Ziegelhutte, Am Bahnhoff 6, 65510 Idstein (+49 6126 702 77). Once again we owe the owners (Gabi and Erdmann Scheibe) a huge THANK YOU for letting us do the work on the bike in the garage of their hotel. If you are ever in the Frankfort area and would like a nice hotel that is about 35 minutes by train from the city (25 minutes to Wiesbaden) please consider staying at their hotel. The breakfast is one of the best we have had.

On the route to Idstein we are going to spend a week traveling through parts of Spain that we have previously missed. After that we will spend the second week of our journey traveling through areas of France that we have not seen. One of the highlights of France will be the ride over the newly opened Millau bridge; the highest suspension bridge in the world. We watched a program on television this past winter showing the construction of this bridge and we decided that we have to go see it.

After we have completed the work to prepare the sidecar for our travels we will head south for Southern Italy, Greece and Turkey by way of Karlsruhe, Germany. We want to visit our friend Sascha Leitz and have him do a bit of painting on the bike.

So, that’s the plan. Now we have to see how close we will come to completing it.
