In the spring of 2001 we went on a small excursion into France and Italy before we set off from Spain for the summer. This excursion was short in length but it gave us a good opportunity to learn a little more about the bikes and ourselves.

We met some very interesting and wonderful people on this excursion. Some of we would see again later in the year as well as continue to exchange e-mail with for years to come.

The main focus for this year’s travels was to see as much of Europe as we could - and we did. We rode from Spain to Sweden, back to Portugal, then to Germany and the Czech Republic and back to Spain. We covered lots of ground and met a number of wonderful people. This also helped us come to grips with the number of miles we liked to cover in a given period of time - basically that we did not want to live on the bikes. Riding is fine, but it is much nicer to be able to take things at a slow pace and enjoy the places we go and the people we meet.
