Left Lane & Abteilung Deutschland/Schweiz Altstadt Wander Treffen

In September, 2004 we attended the Left Lane and Abteilung Deutschland/Schweiz Motorcycle Clubs’ Altstadt Wander Treffen at the Marienburg Niederlfingen in Huettlingen, Germany. The castle is a hostel. We shared our room with Berthold Stelzer and his wife Elke. The accommodations were “cozy” with three bunk beds in the room and the four of us plus all of our motorcycle gear. But, this really was not a problem because we did not spend much time in the room, except to sleep.

Evenings were spent at the campfire where we were able to solve many of the world’s problems while having a beer or apfelshaftshorle (fizzy apple juice).

Saturday was spent touring a local mining operation that had been in use until 1920’s. The mine was reopened during WWII but the low grade of ore was not profitable. It was closed forever in the 1950s. After the tour of the mine we rode to a nearby Abbey where we stopped for lunch. After lunch everyone went off on their own for a ride exploring the area and we rode back to the castle with Cheryl having Sascha on her bike and Christopher on his bike. Once at the castle we had Coffee (tea for us) and kuchen (cake).

Everyone else arrived just in time for dinner to be served and we then adjourned to the fire to solve more of the world’s problems.
