Wales

Verna went shopping in Wales with some other American women from Dublin. There is a ferry that takes you across the Irish Sea to Wales, then a bus drives to a place near Chester where the largest mall of outlet stores in the UK is located. They had 2 ½ hours of shopping there and still didn’t get to all the stores. Guess a return visit is in order. Verna did note there was a huge Eddie Bauer outlet there. Go figure. After the outlets, the bus took them to the town of Chester, where a lot of the original architecture remains. Quite a quaint town with shops on both the ground level and first floor, with a veranda-style walk on the upper floor. The floors above were once the residences, the shops on the first floor, and the stables on the ground level. They have quite a variety of shops there, so we managed to get some more shopping done. It was nice to see a shopping area that had very different and unique shops. Much like the states, the malls that are springing up over here tend to have all the same large chain stores in them, rather than the small, unique shops they once had. I guess it is the price we pay for progress.

Igarden inn walesn the summer of 1999 we drove through Wales on our round-about way to Norwich. We passed through some lovely country, all very green and lush, with some great motorcycle roads. We stayed at this inn on the right, just outside Kington. It was a very nice old Inn and garden. Look for these along the road as they have much more character than a modern hotel. And even though it was right on the main road, it was very quite at night since there was not much traffic after dark.
