Yes, it does snow in Dublin. Not often, mind you, but it does. And we woke up one early April morning to a blanket of white. What a surprise! Herbert Park was lovely in white, though you can see that it wasn’t any too deep. It was a crisp and cold day with clear blue skies, so the snow was a welcome diversion for most of Dublin. It wasn’t deep enough nor cold enough to cause any real problems with traffic, though Jim was extra-careful on the bike that day.
O n th e w a y to w o r k, V erna rode her bicycle along the strand of Dublin Bay to catch site of snow on the beach. The tarmac footpath was too warm for the snow to stick, but it was deep enough both on the grass to the right and on the sand on the left. The building on the far left is Merrion House, where Verna works. In the distance on the left you can see one of the snowy peaks of the Wicklow mountains.
T he tulips in the park were a bit bent out of shape, but by the next day were back to normal, seemingly none the worse for the experience. I was very surprised that they were able to rebound so easily.
