Before we started traveling full time, the most important thing that we learned in our local travels was that there was never enough time. We found that we did not like being confined to fixed periods of time imposed by work constraints when traveling. Our plan has always been to reach a point where we could travel full time.

Now it is an inconvenience if we have a problem at a border or with one of the bikes that delays us for hours, days or weeks but it is not a calamity that will spoil the trip. If you have a fixed amount of time for your travels this is not the case. When someone tells us it will be a week before something can be done we say OK and look for ways to amuse ourselves during that time.

We worked hard for many many years in order to reach this point. The most important factor in all this is of course what you do in order to finance your travels. It’s one thing to stop working and have all the time in the world but without proper planning you will not be able to do anything. We cannot over emphasize the need for planning in this area as well.
